When you go out to war against your enemies and see horse and chariot, a people more numerous than you, you shall not fear them, for the Eternal your God is with you, who brought you up from the land of Egypt.

Core Text of Chazal

Core Text
כִּי ה׳ אֱלֹהֶיךָ עִמָּךְ – זֶה מַחֲנֵה הַשְּׁכִינָה.

English: ‘For the Eternal your God is with you’ – this is the camp of the Shechinah.

On the daf / in context: The assurance is grounded in the presence of the Divine camp.

Type of Learning

Derash identifying the presence (Bavli) — Hashem’s being “with you” refers to the accompanying Shechinah / Ark.

What Is Learned

The reason one must not fear is that Hashem’s presence goes with the army; the memory of the Exodus reinforces that presence.
