When you go out to war against your enemies and see horse and chariot, a people more numerous than you, you shall not fear them, for the Eternal your God is with you, who brought you up from the land of Egypt.

English: ‘You shall not fear them’ – a prohibition against fearing.
Derash classifying the command (Sifrei) — “do not fear” is an active prohibition.
When Yisrael goes out to war and sees superior numbers and armament, it is forbidden to give way to fear; the presence of Hashem is the reason.
