TT #313 · Parashas Reeh · Sixth Aliyah · Passuk 15:13
And when you send him free from you, you shall not send him empty-handed.
Torah Temimah points to Kiddushin.
English: "And when you send him" — The Sages taught: One might have thought that the grant is given only to one who leaves after six years; from where do we include one who leaves at the Jubilee, or at the master’s death, or a Hebrew maidservant who leaves by signs of maturity? From the doubled language "you shall send him\ldots and when you send him."
Derash on the verse (Kiddushin) — the parting grant applies to all forms of release.
The obligation to send a Hebrew slave away with a grant applies whether he leaves after six years, at the Jubilee, at the master’s death, or (in the case of a maidservant) upon reaching maturity.
