And if his father has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to his kinsman who is closest to him of his family, and he shall inherit it; and it shall be for the children of Yisrael a statute of judgment, as Hashem commanded Moshe.

English: One who says to his wife, “this is your get except for your inheritance” — what is the law? Do we say regarding marriage he reserved nothing, or perhaps “to his relative and he shall inherit her” is written? It remains unresolved.

Type of Learning

Open question on conditional divorce and inheritance.

What Is Learned

Whether a husband can exclude inheritance rights by a reservation in the get is left teiku.
