Source Citation

Torah Temimah cites Toras Kohanim: “your rains” — of your land, not of all lands.

Core Text of Chazal

Core Text

English: “I will give your rains” — your rains, not the rains of all lands: that there will be plenty in Eretz Yisrael and famine in other lands, and they will come and buy from you and enrich you.

Type of Learning

Possessive / pronominal derasha on the suffix of gishmeichem.

What Is Learned

The blessing is localized and preferential: the rains (and resulting abundance) belong to Israel’s land, creating economic advantage when surrounding lands lack rain.
