Source Citation

Torah Temimah cites Toras Kohanim on be’itam — measured rain; alternatively, nights of Wednesday and Shabbos.

Core Text of Chazal

Core Text

English: “Your rains in their season” — what is “in their season”? Not waterlogged and not parched, but moderate. Another interpretation: on Wednesday nights and on Friday nights.

Type of Learning

Lexical / temporal derasha on be’itam.

What Is Learned

Rain will fall in the right measure and at convenient times — neither flooding nor drought, and preferentially on nights when travel is minimal.
