וְהֶעֱמִ֞יד הַכֹּהֵ֣ן הַֽמְטַהֵ֗ר אֵ֛ת הָאִ֥ישׁ הַמִּטַּהֵ֖ר וְאֹתָ֑ם לִפְנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֔ה פֶּ֖תַח אֹ֥הֶל מוֹעֵֽד׃

לִפְנֵי יְהֹוָה — מַעֲמִידָם בְּשַׁעַר נִקָּנוֹר, אֲחוֹרֵיהֶם לַמִּזְרָח וּפְנֵיהֶם לַמַּעֲרָב.

English: “Before Hashem” — he stations them at the Nikanor Gate, their backs to the east and their faces to the west.

Location requirement

Chazal specify the precise place and orientation: the metzora and his offerings are stood at the Nikanor Gate facing west (toward the Sanctuary).
