Core Text of Chazal

Core Text

English: “And he shall wave them” — this teaches that they require a single joint waving. If he waved each separately he has still fulfilled the obligation; one might think he must wave and wave again, therefore it says “a wave offering” (singular) and not “wave offerings.”

Type of Learning

Joint tenufah

What Is Learned

Chazal teach that the asham lamb and the log of oil are waved together as one tenufah; separate wavings also suffice, but repeated sets of waving are not required.
