Core Text of Chazal

Core Text

English: “Day by day” — it was taught: every day she urged him with words. She said to him: I will lock you in prison — he said: Hashem releases the bound. I will bend your stature — he said: Hashem straightens the bent.

On the daf / in context: Yoma 35b dramatizes daily pressure and Yosef’s answers from Tehillim’s praises of Hashem.

Type of Learning

Derash on the verse (Bavli sugya) — not a formal named middah of the 13. Daily persistence in the verse is expanded into a dialogue of threats and faith.

What Is Learned

Yosef met daily persuasion with trust that Hashem frees, straightens, and opens eyes — so no threat could move him.
