Core Text of Chazal

Core Text

English: Yitzchak said to himself: It is not Esav’s way to have the Name of Heaven fluent in his mouth, and this one said “Hashem made it happen.”

On the daf / in context: The mention of Hashem raises Yitzchak’s suspicion and leads him to feel the speaker.

Type of Learning

Derash on the verse (Rashi) — not a formal named middah of the 13.

What Is Learned

Yitzchak asked the speaker to draw near so he could feel him, because mentioning Hashem was not Esav’s usual speech.
