Core Text of Chazal
Core Text
אָנֹכִי הַמֵּבִיא לְךָ וְעֵשָׂו הוּא בְּכוֹרֶךָ.
English: I am the one who brings to you, and Esav is your firstborn.
On the daf / in context: Yaakov’s words are parsed so that “I” and “Esav your firstborn” are not a single false claim but a divided sentence.
Type of Learning Derash on the verse (Rashi) — not a formal named middah of the 13.
What Is Learned Yaakov said, “I am [the one bringing to you], and Esav is your firstborn”—splitting the phrase rather than a flat false identification.
Source pointed to by classical Chazal. Only Chazal’s words and what they derived are presented. Ashkenazi transliteration.
