Core Text of Chazal

Core Text
בָּרֵךְ אֲבָרֶכְךָ. אַחַת לָאָב וְאַחַת לַבֵּן. וְהַרְבָּה אַרְבֶּה — אַחַת לָאָב וְאַחַת לַבֵּן.

English: “I will surely bless you” — one for the father and one for the son. “And I will greatly multiply” — one for the father and one for the son.

On the daf / in context: The doubled verbs of blessing and multiplication are apportioned equally to Avraham and to Yitzchak, binding the reward of the Akeidah to both generations.

Type of Learning

Derash on the verse (Rashi) — not a formal named middah of the 13. Intensive infinitive constructions are read as dual allocation.

What Is Learned

The blessing earned at the Akeidah is shared: father and son each receive their own measure of blessing and of multiplication.
