TT #785 · Parashas Ki Seitzei · Seventh Aliyah · Passuk 25:17
Remember what Amalek did to you on the way when you came out of Egypt,
Torah Temimah points to Sifrei / Megillah.
TT lemma:
English: “Remember” — might this mean in the heart? When it says “you shall not forget,” the forgetting of the heart is already stated; how then do I fulfill “remember”? With the mouth.
On the daf / in context: The positive commandment of remembrance requires verbal expression, not merely mental recollection.
Derash distinguishing mental and verbal remembrance.
The mitzvah to remember Amalek must be fulfilled by spoken words, not only by thought.
