TT #769 · Parashas Ki Seitzei · Seventh Aliyah · Passuk 25:12
then you shall cut off her hand; your eye shall not pity.
Torah Temimah points to Sifrei / Bava Kamma.
TT lemma:
English: “You shall cut off” — what does “you shall cut off” mean? Money. From where? It is said here “your eye shall not pity” and it is said there “and your eye shall not pity” — just as there it means money, so here it means money.
On the daf / in context: Gezerah shavah with the law of false witnesses converts the apparent physical penalty into a monetary payment.
Gezerah shavah converting the penalty into money.
The penalty for the intervening woman is a monetary payment, not literal amputation.
