And his name shall be called in Israel “the house of him who had his shoe drawn off.”

Source Citation

Torah Temimah points to Yevamot 101b.

TT lemma:

Sefaria

Core Text of Chazal

English: “Him who had his shoe drawn off” — and not “her who had the shoe drawn off”; from here that the woman is not called by this name.

On the daf / in context: The public stigma (or designation) attaches to the man, not to the woman.

Type of Learning

Mi’ut excluding the woman from the designation.

What Is Learned

Only the man is publicly designated by the title related to the shoe; the woman is not.
