Core Text

English: A cow that threshes for Temple property may not eat of the vetch, for Scripture says ‘You shall not muzzle an ox while it is threshing’ – its threshing that belongs to you, and not the threshing that belongs to the Temple.

On the daf / in context: The right of the animal (and by extension the worker) to eat does not apply when the produce belongs to hekdesh.

Type of Learning

Limiting derash on the possessive ‘its threshing’ (Bavli).

What Is Learned

The prohibition against muzzling (and the corresponding right to eat) applies only to ordinary produce, not to produce that has been consecrated to the Temple.
