And who is the man who has planted a vineyard and has not redeemed it? Let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle and another man redeem it.

TT lemma: אֲשֶׁר נָטַע כֶּרֶם וְלֹא חִלְּלוֹ.
English: ‘Who has planted a vineyard and has not redeemed it’ – he shall return.
Derash on the vineyard exemption (Bavli / Sifrei) — parallel to the house, a new planting frees a man from combat.
A man who has planted a vineyard and has not yet redeemed (desacralized) its fruit is sent home from battle.
