Core Text of Chazal

Core Text

English: ‘They have done well in what they have spoken’ – the Holy One, blessed be He, agreed with their words.

On the daf / in context: Hashem affirms the propriety of the people’s request.

Type of Learning

Derash on Divine approval (Sifrei) — the request for mediation is declared good.

What Is Learned

Hashem Himself declared that the people’s request at Chorev was well spoken; the institution of the prophet rests on that approval.
