תָּמִ֣ים תִּֽהְיֶ֔ה עִ֖ם יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶֽיךָ׃

You shall be wholehearted with the Eternal your God.

Torah Temimah points to Sifrei Devarim 173.

TT lemma: עִם ה׳ אֱלֹהֶיךָ.

Core Text

עִם ה׳ אֱלֹהֶיךָ – כׇּל מַה שֶּׁיָּבוֹא עָלֶיךָ קַבֵּל בִּתְמִימוּת.

English: ‘With the Eternal your God’ – whatever comes upon you, accept in wholeheartedness.

On the daf / in context: Acceptance of whatever Hashem sends is part of the ideal of temimut.

Derash on acceptance (Sifrei) — wholeheartedness includes accepting the events of life without recourse to forbidden inquiry.

Wholeheartedness with Hashem means accepting what He sends without attempting to force knowledge of the future through prohibited means.
