The Complete Passuk

וְשֵׁרֵ֕ת בְּשֵׁ֖ם יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהָ֑יו כְּכׇל־אֶחָיו֙ הַלְוִיִּ֔ם הָעֹמְדִ֥ים שָׁ֖ם לִפְנֵ֥י יְהֹוָֽה׃

Then he shall serve in the name of the Eternal his God, like all his brethren the Leviim who stand there before the Eternal.

Torah Temimah points to Sifrei Devarim 168.

TT lemma: כְּכׇל אֶחָיו הַלְוִיִּם.

Core Text

כְּכׇל אֶחָיו הַלְוִיִּם הָעֹמְדִים שָׁם – שֶׁיִּהְיֶה שָׁוֶה לָהֶם.

English: ‘Like all his brethren the Leviim who stand there’ – that he shall be equal to them.

On the daf / in context: Equality of status in the service is required.

Derash on equality (Sifrei) — the visiting Levi is not subordinate in the performance of the service.

The visiting Levi stands on equal footing with the Leviim already serving at the place; he is not treated as secondary.
