English: "There you shall sacrifice..." — It was taught: Rabbi Yehoshua says: "There you shall sacrifice the Pesach in the evening, at the going down of the sun, at the season that you came forth from Egypt"—in the evening you sacrifice, at the going down of the sun you eat, and until when?—until the season of your going forth from Egypt, until dawn.

On the daf / in context: The verse is parsed into three successive times: slaughter in the afternoon, eating after sunset, and the outer limit of consumption at dawn.

Type of Learning

Derash on the verse (Pesachim) — the three time-stages of the Pesach.

What Is Learned

The Pesach is slaughtered in the afternoon, eaten after sunset, and may be consumed until dawn.
