You shall not eat leaven with it; seven days you shall eat with it matzos, the bread of affliction, for in haste you went out of the land of Egypt, in order that you may remember the day of your going out of the land of Egypt all the days of your life.

Core Text

English: "Bread of affliction" — It was taught: If it is bread of affliction, one might think only coarse bread fulfills the obligation; therefore the verse repeats "matzos, matzos"—including even matzos like those of Solomon.

On the daf / in context: The repetition expands the range of quality; fine flour is acceptable.

Type of Learning

Derash on the verse (Pesachim) — fine matzah is valid.

What Is Learned

Even matzah of the finest quality, like the matzos of Solomon, fulfills the mitzvah.
