The Complete Passuk

וְהָיָה֙ כִּֽי־יֹאמַ֣ר אֵלֶ֔יךָ לֹ֥א אֵצֵ֖א מֵעִמָּ֑ךְ כִּ֤י אֲהֵֽבְךָ֙ וְאֶת־בֵּיתֶ֔ךָ כִּי־ט֥וֹב ל֖וֹ עִמָּֽךְ׃

And it shall be, if he says to you, "I will not go out from you," because he loves you and your household, for it is good for him with you.

Torah Temimah points to Kesubos.

Core Text

כִּי טוֹב לוֹ עִמָּךְ – מְלַמֵּד שֶׁאֵינוֹ יָכוֹל הָרַב לוֹמַר לְעַבְדּוֹ עֲשֵׂה עִמִּי וְאֵינִי זָנְךָ.

English: "For it is good for him with you" — this teaches that a master may not say to his slave, "Work with me but I will not support you."

On the daf / in context: Unlike a Canaanite slave, a Hebrew slave cannot be required to fend for himself by begging.

Derash on the verse (Kesubos) — a master must support a Hebrew slave.

A master is forbidden to require a Hebrew slave to work without providing his food; the slave may not be sent to beg.
