English: "A Hebrew man or a Hebrew woman" — It was taught: From where do we know that a Hebrew slave is acquired by money? From the verse "if your brother, a Hebrew man or a Hebrew woman, is sold to you"—he compares the Hebrew man to the Hebrew woman; just as the Hebrew woman is acquired by money, so the Hebrew man is acquired by money.

On the daf / in context: The acquisition of a male Hebrew slave by payment of money is derived by comparison with the female Hebrew slave.

Type of Learning

Hekkesh (Kiddushin) — a Hebrew slave is acquired by money.

What Is Learned

A male Hebrew slave, like a female Hebrew slave, is acquired by the transfer of money.
