The Complete Passuk

עַשֵּׂ֣ר תְּעַשֵּׂ֔ר אֵ֖ת כׇּל־תְּבוּאַ֣ת זַרְעֶ֑ךָ הַיֹּצֵ֥א הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה שָׁנָ֥ה שָׁנָֽה׃

You shall surely tithe all the produce of your seed that comes forth from the field year by year.

Torah Temimah points to Yerushalmi Maaserot.

Core Text

תְּבוּאַת – דּוּמְיָא דִּתְבוּאָה שֶׁהִיא אֹכֶל, לְהוֹצִיא זֵרְעוֹנֵי גִּנָּה שֶׁאֵינָם נֶאֱכָלִים.

English: “Produce” — similar to produce that is food, to exclude garden seeds that are not eaten.

On the daf / in context: Seeds that are not themselves food (such as certain dye plants) are exempt from ma’aser.

Derash on the verse (Yerushalmi) — non-food seeds are exempt.

Garden seeds that are not eaten as food are not subject to ma’aser.
