English: “You may eat every clean bird” — this comes to permit the bird that is set free in the purification of a metzora; and a clean bird is eaten on the basis of tradition.
Derash on the inclusive “every” (Chullin / Kiddushin) — both a specific permission and a general rule of tradition.
The bird released in the metzora rite remains permitted, and the identification of clean birds in practice relies on masorah.
