רַ֣ק חֲזַ֗ק לְבִלְתִּי֙ אֲכֹ֣ל הַדָּ֔ם כִּ֥י הַדָּ֖ם ה֣וּא הַנָּ֑פֶשׁ וְלֹא־תֹאכַ֥ל הַנֶּ֖פֶשׁ עִם־הַבָּשָֽׂר׃

Only be strong not to eat the blood, for the blood is the life, and you shall not eat the life with the flesh.

וְלֹא תֹאכַל וגו׳ – תָּנוּ רַבָּנָן, וְלֹא תֹאכַל הַנֶּפֶשׁ עִם הַבָּשָׂר, אֵיזֶהוּ בָּשָׂר שֶׁהוּא עִם הַנֶּפֶשׁ הֱוֵי אוֹמֵר זֶה אֵבֶר מִן הַחַי.

English: “And you shall not eat…” — The Sages taught: “And you shall not eat the life with the flesh.” What is flesh that is with the life? You must say this is a limb from a living animal (ever min ha-chai).
