You may not eat within your gates the tithe of your grain or of your wine or of your oil, or the firstborn of your herd or of your flock, or any of your vows that you vow, or your freewill-offerings, or the contribution of your hand.
English: “And the contribution of your hand” — these are the first-fruits. R’ Shimon said: And what does this come to teach us? If for one who eats them outside the wall, it is a kal va-chomer from the lighter ma’aser. Therefore the verse comes only for one who eats of the bikkurim before he has recited the declaration over them, that he incurs lashes.
On the daf / in context: After the kal va-chomer eliminates the known case, the verse teaches liability for eating bikkurim before the required declaration (mikra bikkurim).
Type of Learning
Derash on the verse (Sifrei) — liability for eating bikkurim before the declaration.
