הֲלֹא־הֵ֜מָּה בְּעֵ֣בֶר הַיַּרְדֵּ֗ן אַֽחֲרֵי֙ דֶּ֚רֶךְ מְב֣וֹא הַשֶּׁ֔מֶשׁ בְּאֶ֙רֶץ֙ הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֔י הַיֹּשֵׁ֖ב בָּעֲרָבָ֑ה מ֚וּל הַגִּלְגָּ֔ל אֵ֖צֶל אֵלוֹנֵ֥י מֹרֶֽה׃

Are they not beyond the Jordan, behind the way of the going down of the sun, in the land of the Canaanite who dwells in the Arabah, opposite Gilgal, beside the terebinths of Moreh?

הַיֹּשֵׁב בָּעֲרָבָה – אֵלּוּ הַר גְּרִזִים וְהַר עֵיבָל שֶׁיּוֹשְׁבִים בָּהֶם כּוּתִים.

English: “Who dwells in the Arabah” — these are Mount Gerizim and Mount Eival, in which the Kusim dwell.

On the daf / in context: The identification links the mountains to the later settlement of the Kusim (Samaritans) in that region after the exile of the Ten Tribes.
