Core Text — Makkos 12b

English: It was taught: A murderer who killed [again] in that same city goes into exile from neighborhood to neighborhood. Rav Acha son of Rav Ika said: What is the verse? “For he shall dwell in his city of refuge” — a city that has already absorbed him.

Type of Learning

Intra-city exile when a second killing occurs inside the city of refuge.

What Is Learned

Even after reaching a city of refuge, a further unintentional killing there requires the killer to move to another neighborhood within the same city.
