וְנָתַתָּה מֵהוֹדְךָ עָלָיו לְמַעַן יִשְׁמְעוּ כָּל־עֲדַת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל׃

And you shall put some of your majesty upon him, so that all the congregation of the children of Yisrael may hear.

מֵהוֹדְךָ וְלֹא כָּל הוֹדְךָ, זְקֵנִים שֶׁבְּאוֹתוֹ הַדּוֹר אָמְרוּ, פְּנֵי מֹשֶׁה כִּפְנֵי חַמָּה, פְּנֵי יְהוֹשֻׁעַ כִּפְנֵי לְבָנָה.

English: “Of your majesty” — and not all your majesty. The elders of that generation said: Moshe’s face was like the face of the sun; Yehoshua’s face was like the face of the moon.

Yehoshua receives real authority, but not the full measure of Moshe.
