Source Citation

Sifra, Bechukotai, Chapter 8:3 — confession is the hinge of teshuvah; when they confess, mercy returns at once.

Sefaria

Chazal

English: “And they will confess their sins and the sin of their fathers” — this is in respect to repentance. As soon as they confess their sins, I immediately return and show them mercy.

Type of Learning

Halachic / theological derasha — vidui as the turning point.

What Is Learned

The tochacha’s long chain of punishments is not closed. Confession opens the door; the moment of vidui is answered by immediate rachamim.
