The Complete Passuk

As for those of you who survive, I will cast a faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; the sound of a driven leaf shall put them to flight, and they shall flee as one flees the sword, and they shall fall though none pursues.

Source Citation

Sifra, Bechukotai, Chapter 7 (on morech / faintness) — terror so deep that a falling leaf triggers flight as from the sword.

Sefaria

Chazal

English: “I will bring faintness into their hearts” — fear and softness of heart; “the sound of a driven leaf” — even the sound of a leaf driven by the wind will pursue them as if a sword were chasing them.

Type of Learning

Psychological derasha — exile’s interior collapse.

What Is Learned

The curse is not only external defeat. It is the internalization of fear: a heart so softened that the slightest natural sound is experienced as mortal threat.
