וְנָתַתִּ֤י אֶת־עָֽרֵיכֶם֙ חָרְבָּ֔ה וַהֲשִׁמּוֹתִ֖י אֶת־מִקְדְּשֵׁיכֶ֑ם וְלֹ֣א אָרִ֔יחַ בְּרֵ֖יחַ נִיחֹֽחֲכֶֽם׃

Torah Temimah cites Toras Kohanim: “your sanctuaries” includes synagogues and study halls.

Core Text

“מִקְדָּשׁ, מִקְדָּשִׁי, מִקְדְּשֵׁיכֶם” — לְרַבּוֹת בָּתֵּי כְּנֵסִיּוֹת וּבָתֵּי מִדְרָשׁוֹת.

English: “Sanctuary / My sanctuary / your sanctuaries” — to include synagogues and houses of study.

Expansion derasha on the plural/possessive form.

The form “your sanctuaries” broadens the warning (and residual kedushah) to communal houses of prayer and Torah.
