EXTRA 2 on Kedoshim 20:06

Side-ring EXTRA · Restatement of the ov/yid’oni ban

Source

Sifra asks why 20:06 repeats material already present at 19:31. The restatement is not redundancy; it places the sin inside the penalty chapter.

Core Text

Core Text — Sifra, Kedoshim, Chapter 10

English: “The person who turns to the ovot and the yid’onim to go astray after them” — why is this said? Because Scripture also says “a man or a woman who has an ov or a yid’oni among them” (20:27), distinguishing the practitioner from the one who turns after them.

Type of Learning

Restatement to distinguish roles

What Is Learned

20:06 targets the one who turns after the spirits; 20:27 targets the medium. The double appearance is deliberate: azharah and onesh for different actors in the same system of idolatrous consultation.
