אע"פ שאמרו יוהכ"פ אסור בחמשה דברים אין חייבים כרת אלא על אכילה ושתיה, דכתיב תענו את נפשותיכם וכתיב כי כל הנפש אשר לא תעונה ונכרתה — דבר שהוא ענוי בבית נפש, ואיזה זה? אכילה ושתיה.
English: Although five things are forbidden, karet applies only to eating and drinking — the affliction that resides in the “house of the soul.”
