וְאִם֩ שָׁכֹ֨ב יִשְׁכַּ֤ב אִישׁ֙ אֹתָ֔הּ וּתְהִ֥י נִדָּתָ֖הּ עָלָ֑יו וְטָמֵ֣א ׀ שִׁבְעַ֣ת יָמִ֗ים וְכָל־הַמִּשְׁכָּ֛ב אֲשֶׁר־יִשְׁכַּ֥ב עָלָ֖יו יִטְמָֽא׃

וּתְהִי נִדָּתָהּ עָלָיו — מַה תַּלְמוּד לוֹמַר? שֶׁיָּכוֹל לֹא יְטַמֵּא אָדָם וּכְלִי חֶרֶס; תַּלְמוּד לוֹמַר וּתְהִי נִדָּתָהּ עָלָיו — מַה הִיא מְטַמְּאָה אָדָם וּכְלִי חֶרֶס, אַף הוּא מְטַמֵּא אָדָם וּכְלִי חֶרֶס.

English: “And her niddah shall be upon him” — what does this teach? One might think he does not convey impurity to a person and earthenware; Scripture teaches “and her niddah shall be upon him” — just as she conveys impurity to a person and earthenware, so does he.

What Is Learned

Chazal give the man who lies with a niddah the same capacity to convey impurity to people and earthenware as she has.
