Core Text of Chazal

Core Text

English: “And they shall remove” — this teaches that both [the owner and the neighbor] remove, both cut out, both bring the stones; from here they said: Woe to the wicked, woe to his neighbor.

Type of Learning

Shared responsibility / neighbor liability

What Is Learned

Chazal derive that a shared wall imposes joint responsibility for the removal of the affected stones; the neighbor of a wicked person suffers with him.
