English: “And he shall take and he shall place” — one might think [he takes] with a vessel; therefore it says “and he shall place”: just as the placing is done by the kohen’s own hand, so the taking is done by the kohen’s own hand.
Heqesh of taking and placing
Chazal require that the kohen take the blood with his own hand, not by means of a vessel, just as he places it with his own hand.
