וְצִוָּה֙ הַכֹּהֵ֔ן וְלָקַ֧ח לַמִּטַּהֵ֛ר שְׁתֵּֽי־צִפֳּרִ֥ים חַיּ֖וֹת טְהֹר֑וֹת וְעֵ֣ץ אֶ֔רֶז וּשְׁנִ֥י תוֹלַ֖עַת וְאֵזֹֽב׃

Core Text

שְׁתֵּי צִפֳּרִים — שֶׁיִּהְיוּ שְׁתֵּיהֶן שָׁווֹת בְּמַרְאֶה וּבְקוֹמָה וּבְעֵרֶךְ שְׁוֵוי דְּמֵיהֶן.

English: “Two birds” — they must be equal in appearance, in size, and in monetary value.

Gezeiras ha-kasuv / equality

Chazal require the two birds of the metzora to be a matched pair in looks, stature, and price, exactly as the two goats of Yom Kippur must be equal.
