שקץ הם לכם. שקץ – לאסור צירן ורוטבן וקיפה שלהם, הם – פרט לשאין בהם בנותן טעם, לכם – מותרים הם בהנאה
English: “They are an abomination to you.” “Abomination” prohibits their liquid, gravy, and sediment; “they” excludes mixtures in which they impart no taste; “to you” teaches that they are permitted for benefit.
Textual distinction — the derashah assigns distinct legal implications to the repeated words of the verse.
The note addresses mixtures and by-products of impure aquatic creatures, including the distinction between eating and benefit.
