וְעָשִׂ֜יתָ חֹ֤שֶׁן מִשְׁפָּט֙ מַעֲשֵׂ֣ה חֹשֵׁ֔ב כְּמַעֲשֵׂ֥ה אֵפֹ֖ד תַּעֲשֶׂ֑נּוּ זָ֠הָ֠ב תְּכֵ֨לֶת וְאַרְגָּמָ֜ן וְתוֹלַ֧עַת שָׁנִ֛י וְשֵׁ֥שׁ מׇשְׁזָ֖ר תַּעֲשֶׂ֥ה אֹתֽוֹ׃

וְנֵילַף מִשּׁוּלָיו וְרִמּוֹנָיו — מָה לְהַלָּן שְׁמוֹנָה, אַף כָּאן שְׁמוֹנָה! דָּנִין כְּלִי מִכְּלִי, וְאֵין דָּנִין כְּלִי מִתַּכְשִׁיט כְּלִי.

English: The Gemara considers deriving the number from the hem and pomegranates, which would yield eight strands, but rejects that comparison because a vessel is not derived from an ornament.
