Torah Temimah — Yerushalmi Shekalim 8:2
Core Text of Chazal
English: The Yerushalmi first distinguishes ma'aseh rokem as one face from ma'aseh choshev as two faces. Rabbi Yehudah and Rabbi Nechemyah then differ about the figures: one view has a lion on both sides for the rokem and a lion on one side with a plain surface on the other for the choshev; the other has a lion and a plain surface for the rokem and a lion and an eagle for the choshev.
What Is Learned
This is the Yerushalmi's more detailed account of the woven figures. It is distinct from the preceding Yoma 72b units, which define the two workmanship methods.
