Core Text — Zevachim 61b

English: Hillel the Elder says: The Holy One said to Yisrael, “If you come to My house I will come to your house”… “In every place where I cause My name to be mentioned I will come to you.” … From here, that a person must pray in a place designated for prayer.

Type of Learning

Derash on the verse.

What Is Learned

The promise “I will come to you” is conditioned on Yisrael’s coming to the House, and the verse further teaches the value of a set place for prayer.
