Core Text of Chazal

Core Text — Yerushalmi Pesachim (via Torah Temimah)

English: One who kneaded dough on erev Yom Tov and did not separate its challah — it is forbidden to separate on Yom Tov, because of “no work shall be done on them.”

Type of Learning

Separating challah counts as melachah when the dough was ready before Yom Tov.

What Is Learned

Challah that could have been separated before Yom Tov may not be separated on Yom Tov.
