Core Text of Chazal

Core Text — Yerushalmi Beitzah (via Torah Temimah)

English: For “you” we require “that which is eaten,” but for the Most High we do not require “that which is eaten” — from here, burnt offerings whose time is on Yom Tov are offered on Yom Tov.

Type of Learning

Distinction between human food (must be edible) and Temple olos (time-bound to the day).

What Is Learned

Olos whose appointed time is Yom Tov may be brought on Yom Tov even though they are not eaten.
