Core Text — Mechilta (via Torah Temimah)

English: “From the sheep and from the goats” — might one take from both together as one? We learn by kal va-chomer: if an olah, which is stricter, is valid from one species, then a Pesach, which is lighter, all the more so [from one species only].

Type of Learning

Kal va-chomer from olah: one animal, one species — not a mixed pair.

What Is Learned

The Pesach is taken from sheep or from goats, one species per offering.
