Core Text
ונשאלה את פיה. מִכָּאן שֶׁאֵין מַשִּׂיאִין אֶת הָאִשָּׁה אֶלָּא מִדַּעְתָּהּ (בראשית רבה):

English: From here [we learn] that a woman is not given in marriage except with her own consent.

On the daf / in context: The family’s decision to ask Rivkah’s own mouth is the source for the requirement of the woman’s consent to marriage.

Type of Learning

Derash on the verse (Rashi / midrash) — not a formal named middah of the 13: the phrase “ask her mouth” is taken as a legal requirement of consent.

What Is Learned

A woman is not given in marriage except with her own consent; the call to ask Rivkah’s mouth is the scriptural source of that rule.
