Parashas Vayeira · Passuk 22:14
And Avraham called the name of that place “Hashem will see,” as it is said to this day, “On the mountain of Hashem it will be seen.”
Torah Temimah points to Berachos 62b.
TT lemma: בהר ה' יראה.
English: “On the mountain of Hashem it will be seen.” It is written, “And as He was about to destroy, Hashem saw and relented.” What did He see? Rabbi Yochanan said: He saw the Temple, as it is said, “as it is said to this day, ‘On the mountain of Hashem it will be seen.’”
Derash on the verse (Bavli sugya) — not a formal named middah of the 13. A later narrative of divine relenting is anchored in the place-name of the Akeidah.
When God was about to destroy, He “saw” the future Temple on the mountain of the Akeidah and relented; the name “Hashem will see” alludes to that vision.
