Parashas Vayeira · Passuk 22:5
And Avraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey, and I and the lad will go yonder; we will worship and we will return to you.”
Torah Temimah points to Bava Kamma 49a.
TT lemma: עם החמור.
English: “With the donkey.” Rav Pappa said: An ox that gored a [pregnant] maidservant and her young were miscarried—he pays the value of the fetuses. What is the reason? He has merely damaged a pregnant she-donkey, as the verse says, “Stay here with the donkey”—with one who is like a donkey.
Derash on the verse (Bavli sugya) — not a formal named middah of the 13. The phrase governs the monetary assessment of injury to a slave-woman.
When an ox causes a Canaanite maidservant to miscarry, the payment is for the fetuses as for a pregnant donkey; the verse places her with the donkey.
